Black, 1910, First edition, 8vo [22.5 x 16.5 cm]; xiv, 167 pp, 20 color plates including frontis painted by Flemwell, with captioned tissue guards, index, orig green cloth with a floral design in white & light green on the front and spine, gilt lettering, t. e. g., light rubbing on edge, very little foxing on few leaves, else near fine condition.
Inman 123. Only 3,000 copies were printed of this first edition, with a reprint in 1916. Attractive book with lovely plates.

London, Hutchinson & Co., 1911, First edition, 8vo [22.5 x 17 cm]; xviii, [i, note on water-colours), 195 pp, 26 fine color plates from the author's paintings, tipped in on art paper, each with tissue guard and letter-press, index, orig pictorial gilt cloth, gilt lettering on front cover and spine, small bookplate of Charles Whitfield on endpaper, rubbed at edges, spine a little faded, a very good clean copy, internally fine.
"Will be consulted with pleasure by gardeners as well as by alpinist and lovers of nature generally". (The author, a premier alpine botanist and alpine artist, describes his travels and the flowers in the Alps, especially in the springtime, and makes an early plea for their conservation.
